If you are a visual artist working on the North Olympic Peninsula of Washington state, then your work can be featured here, either by linking to your existing web site, or by actually creating a web presence.
Link to your page. If you have an existing web presence for your fine art, then a link to your site can be provided through the “artists” tab at the top of each page. Cost: nothing.
One page presence. If you are currently a volunteer, actively supporting a 501(c)3 nonprofit (Sequim Arts or Northwind) or are working in support of regional youth arts initiatives, then I will construct a one page web gallery for no cost, on a time available basis.
Full web presence. Two ways to go here: have a static web site built by a web designer, or hire a designer to create a content managed system (CMS) such as WordPress to create and update your own work. Costs have three categories:
1. Domain charges. These total about $10 a year to “own” the name: www.yourstuff.com
2. Hosting. This buys the hard drive space on the internet where your web site is stored. For a robust full service account, allow about $5 to $7 a month.
3. Web construction. Web developers and graphic designers charges range from about $50 an hour to about $80 per hour on the peninsula. Figure at least 10 hours for a minimum web site; complex sites can take 20 to 40 hours. Once complete, you’ll need to pay someone to update your site, allow one hour minimum for each update session (accumulate your updates to save money).
CMS based costs can be more reasonable; a good web professional can create a WordPress based setup in about 5 to 7 hours, including helping you learn how to do this. Over time, you will also save $$ on maintenance (since you will be maintaining the site yourself), and have a much more current and interesting web presence.
